🇲🇾 Kumo Kumo Cheese Cake at Sunway Pyramid: Freshly Baked, Soft & Addictive

If you are visiting Sunway Pyramid in Malaysia and spot a long queue for Kumo Kumo, you may be wondering what everyone is waiting for. The answer is their freshly baked cheese cakes.

We visited Kumo Kumo on a weekend, and there was already a long queue. It is definitely one of those places where you need a little patience, especially during weekends and peak shopping hours.

But once you get your hands on the freshly baked cake, the wait starts to make sense.

Freshly Baked Cheese Cake That Is Seriously Soft

The main reason to try Kumo Kumo is the texture.

The cheese cake is incredibly soft, fluffy and light, with a gentle cheesy flavour that makes it surprisingly addictive. It isn't the heavy, dense type of cheesecake. Instead, the texture is soft enough that you can easily finish a piece without feeling overwhelmed.

The best part is that the cakes are freshly baked, so you can enjoy that warm, soft texture straight from the bakery.

It is the kind of cake where you take one bite, then another... and before you realise it, the whole piece is gone.

Expect a Long Queue on Weekends

If you're planning to try Kumo Kumo at Sunway Pyramid, be prepared to queue.

The shop can get particularly busy on weekends and public holidays, when shoppers are out in full force. The queue may look intimidating, but you can also watch the cakes being prepared and baked while waiting.

If you're visiting with children, I would recommend going earlier or choosing an off-peak time if possible.

The Orange Branding Is Surprisingly Classy

One thing that immediately caught my attention was Kumo Kumo's orange branding.

The bright orange colour is used consistently across the shop, packaging and even the receipt. It gives the brand a distinctive and premium-looking identity.

In fact, the orange immediately reminded me of Hermès orange — simple, bold and classy without needing too many colours.

Even the little details are fun. They were also generous with cutlery, which is convenient when you're buying the cakes to share with family or friends.

Is Kumo Kumo Japanese?

The name Kumo Kumo and its Japanese-inspired aesthetic might make you think that this is a Japanese cake brand.

But interestingly, Kumo Kumo is not from Japan or Malaysia. It is a Shanghai-origin brand.

That makes the branding even more interesting. The name and visual identity give it a Japanese-inspired feel, but the brand itself comes from Shanghai.

So if you were also wondering about its origins while waiting in the queue, now you know!

Kumo Kumo Cheese Cake Review

For me, the biggest attraction is still the cake itself.

The freshly baked, soft and fluffy texture is what makes Kumo Kumo stand out. It is simple, but very easy to enjoy, and the cheesy flavour is not overpowering.

Add in the attractive orange branding, generous cutlery and the experience of getting a cake freshly baked, and you can see why people are willing to queue.

If you're already visiting Sunway Pyramid, Kumo Kumo is worth putting on your food list — especially if you love soft cheese cakes.

Just remember: weekend = long queue!
