🇲🇾Roti Sarang Burung at Dapo' Khaleeda

Discovering Roti Sarang Burung at Dapo' Khaleeda: A Unique Twist on Roti Prata

If you’re a fan of roti canai/prata or, like me, roti telur, the buzz around Dapo' Khaleeda’s Roti Sarang Burung might have caught your eye. I first stumbled upon this unique dish thanks to an influencer on Instagram who raved about the presentation and flavors, so I decided to try it myself.

Early Morning Visit and the Growing Crowd

Arriving at Dapo' Khaleeda at 8 a.m., I was lucky enough to find one of the last remaining tables. Within minutes, a queue began to form, proving the popularity of this spot. The atmosphere is casual and straightforward—no host to welcome guests, but there’s a convenient QR code on each table for easy self-ordering.

The Anticipation and Presentation of Roti Sarang Burung

From the Instagram post, Roti Sarang Burung looked like a work of art. When my order arrived, the dish certainly stood out with its unique presentation: a crispy yet fluffy roti telur topped with a perfectly fried egg and accompanied by a thick curry with tender pieces of meat.

Roti with the rendang, sardine or satay options for RM13 each. While the dish had a familiar taste reminiscent of classic roti telur with curry, the visible egg on top made it distinct. However, for some, it may feel a bit "fomo" or slightly overpriced for its simplicity.

For kids, you can order without Rendang. Plain version without curry for RM6

The Satay: A Homestyle Favorite

Besides the roti, I also tried their satay, which was a highlight. Unlike typical satay, these skewers had a homestyle feel—meaty, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. It’s a must-try for anyone craving that authentic, homemade touch in their satay.

Additional Menu Options: Fried Meehun and Nasi Lemak

One surprise was discovering other food items that weren’t listed on the app. At one end of the restaurant, a self-serve section offered fried Meehun and nasi lemak, which looked too good to pass up. These items aren’t part of the app ordering system, so once you’re there, you can head over to the counter, pick up your serving, and pay directly.

Final Thoughts on Roti Sarang Burung at Dapo' Khaleeda

Dapo' Khaleeda’s Roti Sarang Burung is definitely worth a visit for anyone seeking a unique twist on the classic roti prata with egg. While it’s a bit pricier than expected, the flavors, the homestyle satay, and the additional self-serve items make this a noteworthy breakfast or brunch spot. Just be prepared to get there early if you want a seat, and don’t forget to check out the self-serve section for a more complete experience.
