Yam Ring recipe


Yam ring vegetables or Yam ring with Pork ribs!!

Most important recipe here today is to make the ring. 


500g yam paste

80g wheat starch

1 tablespoon of 5 spices

2 tablespoon of sugar

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon is f baking powder

1 teaspoon of bicarbonate 

Cut your yam to cubes and steam till you can smash it till it look like smash potato. You can add a bit water to steam together for easier soft.1-2 teaspoons. Too much water will cause the paste to be watery and hard to shape it. 

Mix all ingredients from sugar, spices, salt, wheat starch and powder to the yam paste. 
** it must be wheat starch. I tried with corn starch and it turn out not crispy and too soft! 

Once done, flatten in on tray. The thickness will be around 1cm which easier to handle. 
Tray size: 

Cling wrap the tray and put into fridge for 20-30mins so that it is easier to mould into circle.

After 20-30mins, I cut into two and make circle.

Then shape it nicely and wrap i with cling wrap again. 

Then put into freezer to harden it. After 2 hours, you can take it out to fried. You can also keep in freezer up to a month. 

How do you fried with minimum oil?

You can fry in rolling style.
